NEW! e-Transfers

You must meet both of these criteria to qualify:
1)
You’re a direct client, which means you’re insured through a Dumfries agent not through a broker. Our agents are Lee Ellery, Christina George, Don Graham, Colleen Kiriakos, Glen Nixon, Scott Parker and TJ Sutton.
2) Your financial institution must support automatic deposit, which means we’re not required to answer a security question or provide a password.

  • You will likely (but not necessarily) see a message like “Dumfries is registered for auto-deposit so no security question is required”. If you’re still required to enter a security question, it won’t matter what you enter as your payment should still deposit automatically.
  • We’re only aware of one institution (Manulife Bank) that does not offer auto-deposit at this time. You would have to cancel the transaction as we wouldn’t be able to receive it.

You must complete both of these steps:
1) Email payment to: etransfers@dumfriesmutual.com
2) Complete the message box in your transfer with a) your name, b) your agent’s name and c) your policy number(s). We can not process your payment without this information.

Online banking

  • Available with the big five banks: BMO, CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank, and TD
  • Payee name: “Dumfries Mutual Insurance Company”
  • Your account number: your policy number (omit dash)

  • 12 equal monthly payments
  • Convenience – no need to worry about payment dates
  • Withdrawal can be set up for any day of the month
  • Automatic withdrawal from your account without issuing cheques

ALERT – False cheques with our name as payer

We were notified February 4, 2019, that fake cheques were sent to random recipients with our company name as payer. We want to confirm these mailings are not from us, but are part of a scam and illegitimate.

Those who received (or will receive) these cheques may or may not be our policyholders. We do not know how many of these mailings were sent, or the span of territory affected.

It is our understanding that many of these scam mailings include 1) a fake cheque for the value of $2,950 (but there may be other amounts), and/or 2) a letter asking you to send money overseas.

Please use your best judgment if you receive something suspicious. As a rule of thumb, if it seems “fishy” then it’s probably not from us. Note that we never ask for money to be sent overseas.

Please rest assured we are taking this matter seriously. While we had no part in these fraudulent mailings, we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience they may cause.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Manager, Shelley Sutton, at 519-621-4660 or info@dumfriesmutual.com.
