About Dumfries Mutual
We are a local company focused on meeting the insurance and risk related needs of the community, servicing Cambridge, Kitchener- Waterloo, Guelph, rural Hamilton, and surrounding area. As a mutual insurance company, we’re owned by our policyholders. We offer coverage for auto, property, commercial, and liability. Our policyholders are at the core of our company and overall we aim to create peace of mind through strong and secure relationships.
Our company was founded in May, 1856 in the Village of Roseville. We are the oldest farm mutual insurance company in Ontario. We have grown from a company that strictly wrote fire insurance to one that now protects its insureds against property, liability, and automobile losses. Dumfries Mutual Insurance continues to grow and change while maintaining our commitment to our policyholders. As a policyholder of Dumfries Mutual, you are an owner of the company. You have the right to vote on important decisions.
Although a lot has changed over the years, our team still offers friendly service and has never wavered in community support. The board and staff seek to add that personal touch with every interaction. Dumfries Mutual is lead by a board of directors who understand the needs of both rural and urban policyholders.
Most importantly, our company is still controlled by our policyholders. This allows our focus to be on customer service rather than on pleasing distant shareholders looking for a quick return on their investments. Since 1856, it has been our policyholders who’ve made our company the success it is today!
